Portugal highlighted in the Mundus Vini competition
With 185 medals, Portugal occupies the 5th place in the ranking of the best countries participating in the Mundus Vini contest, organized by Meininger.
With 185 medals, including 6 Grand Gold, 97 Gold and 82 Silver medals, Portugal ranked 5th in the ranking of the best countries participating in the 2021 edition of Mundus Vini.

As published by Meininger, Portuguese wines awarded with a Grand Gold medal are:

  1. Quinta do Pego Porto LBV, 2014
  2. Casa Santos Lima Malbec tinto, 2018
  3. Quinta da Gaivosa Porto, 2018
  4. Cooperativa Agrícola Sto. Isidro de Pegões – Contemporal Moscatel Roxo, 2013
  5. Justinos Madeira Colheita 2003
  6. Quinta D. Matilde – Dona Matilde Reserva tinto, 2017

The Mundus Vini is one of the most important competitions in the world of wine:
"the awards are intended to offer producers, wine-growers, importers and consumers a forum which, firstly, permits a comparison of wines and offers valuable help with decision-making and orientation when buying wine and, secondly, reaches a wide public".

The Mundus Vini awards are awarded, strategically, twice a year, once before Pro-Wein and once, in the summer, "to combine with the autumn fairs and year-end business".
